Very, very, very short fiction

September 30, 2008 - Remember: when you link to TS for your published stories, once your story is archived the link changes. Please see the archives for your older stories and change links as necessary. (All archived shorts are stored on blogger.)

September 27, 2008 - A move across the Mason-Dixon line and work difficulties had us inadvertently skip a Tuesday posting. But, no worries! Postings will resume this Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Thanks for your understanding, and sorry for leaving you no doubt feeling like something, something you may not have been able to place...milk? the paper?... was missing from your Tuesday.

K&S

August 10, 2008 - Jean Kilbourne, whose video presentation "Killing Us Softly" addresses the use of women in advertising, once again confronts the way advertising shapes our society. Check out the press release for her new book in Spotlight Drawers.

August 7, 2008--LIKE ANIMALS? -- Journal Inquirer

By Stacy Jennings

A Bloomfield, Conn. group is building what its officials are touting as the state’s first animal sanctuary of its kind in Ashford. It's a multi-million dollar facility on 43 acres that will include an animal rescue and training center, hiking trails, reflection gardens, and a dog park.

Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit, privately funded, no-kill organization that aids in the adoption of rescued animals.

So far, Our Companions has received a gift of $100,000 toward the $600,000 needed to build the first rescue cottage.

For more information about Our Companions, call 242-9999 or e-mail  susanl (at) ourcompanions.org.

Donations to the organization may made through the Web site or by sending them to Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 673, Bloomfield, CT, 06002.

July 24, 2008--What do you know about F. John Sharp? The first thing you should know is that he guessed an iguana as our "Promote Yourself" house pet. But there's so much more! For the rest, click the link.

July 22, 2008 - Comment Column

So we can continue the collaborative community we all began on Myspace, we're initiating a "Comment Column" on the Tuesday Shorts blog. To make this user friendly, we've initiated it simply as a monthly column. So give a quick shout here for the work you enjoy and we can continue our tradition!

July 17, 2008 -Subs have been read and responded to through July 11.

So if you sent after that date, you are under consideration for the next issue. This is all new to us as well, but as writers, we know how frustrating the wait can be.

July 17, 2008 - Tuesday coming soon :)

Because one of us (ah*hem, initials SR), is so technologically challenged, TS is running late (ya think?). However, it shouldn't be long now, so please bear with us during this transition to actual web posting. She'll figure it out soon!

Yours in short,

Guess who

Shelly would like to add that no bytes or bits have been damaged (intentionally) during her trial period, and as you can see, she thinks she can manage just fine. Or at least in a passable way.

July 17 - We have a winner!

But we're not letting the cat out of the bag yet. We would like to share some of the excellent guesses.....

Bird

Fish

Chia Pet

Lizard

Pot-bellied pig

Snake

Turtle

My fish I call Wanda

and the actual correct answer.......

Iguana

And the winner will be presented this weekend - stay tuned!

July 12, 2008--PROMOTE YOURSELF!

You may have noticed our new page, "Spotlight Drawers." The space is reserved for two things: artists we happen upon, and artists who win our guessing challenge and are willing to take the time to put together a self-promotion package we can simply copy and paste onto the page.

If you have videos you want promoted, we can really only link to them (as we've done with Totally Awesome Victory), but you can include them if you wish. Also feel free to include links to previous works, brief (100 word) excerpts of pieces you'd like to draw attention to, who you are, and whatever else you would include in a self-promo.

THE RULES:

Be the first to send in a correct guess to the clue below. Send your answer, with "self-promo" in the subject line of your email, to tuesdayshortsATyahooDOTcom. The first to send in the correct answer before Saturday, July 19, will win the opportunity to shamelessly self-promote. The information will stay on the page until we replace it. There's no saying how long that could be, but it won't be less than a week.

How to play: If our clue were, "We're thinking of a movie theater candy," your email would say only, "Milkduds," or "hot tamales."

RULE A: One guess per email.

THE CLUE:

We're thinking of a house pet. It may have fur, it may not. That's all we'll tell you.

Good luck!
